- Chef Dante Balanezo

On September 1st, 2014, Chio’s Peruvian Grill opened its doors in Van Nuys. Chef Dante Balarezo is known in the Los Angeles area for his ownership of various restaurants as well as having had his own television show. With over 20 years of experience, he provides the best of Peruvian culinary arts.

Chef Dante, who is a Peruvian immigrant who arrived to the United States in search of opportunities, discusses his experiences in 1990:
"I arrived with hopes to make my dreams a reality. However, I knew there was something missing— that flavor with which I grew up. I needed to incorporate the aromas and spices that filled my life at a young age— that is why I stepped into the kitchen. I made those dishes that reminded me so much of home— first for family and friends, then taking the leap to open my own restaurants. I discovered my calling and decided to make a career from my passion. Today, Peruvian cuisine is experienced by many and it is up to us chefs to make our food resonate even more. With honesty and faithfulness to the dishes, we can assure that every bite is filled with those beautiful memories which we grew up with. I want to thank everyone for their support through the years and I invite you to come and enjoy the greatest foods of Peru."
